Content: Listening to poems about monsters in everyday situations then creating monsters to describe or write poems about with a wide range of language

Content: Listening to poems and limericks about gadgets, the way they can help and the problems they cause. Children then work together to create limericks about gadgets and comical problems

A chance to prepare, plan and perform a themed poem
Content: Listening to themed poetry before preparing content for pomes based on a theme then put the ideas together. Poems are performed in groups

Entertaining and engaging session including theatre skills
Content: Listening to poems about emotions. Using intonation to express emotions then performing their own poems in a more dramatic way having created verses in teams

A look at the language used to describe and create poems
Content: Following an example driven introduction to the terms used in poetry as well as different varying forms of verse, learners are asked to create their versions before performing them in groups

Professional Poetry Performances
Assemblies can last from 20 minutes to 60 minutes and be for the whole school or a combination of year groups
There is always lots of learner participation, question and answer sections and silliness, however, more thoughtful content is offered as well as.
